The Taliban on Thursday night stopped Afghan nationals trying to flee the border area with Pakistan. Afghans have fled the country to the border after Taliban militants began torturing them.
Torkham Crossing is 180 kilometers from the capital Kabul. The Taliban have created a blockade as the number of people from the community unable to leave the airport has increased.
But there were no reports of pro-Afghan people gathering on the Afghan border on Thursday. The Taliban have even warned their fighters to stop people from approaching the border.
Taliban fighters have not allowed Afghans to come close to the border to spread the message that the country is safe by locking Afghans inside the country. Pakistan has also closed the Torkham border area as it is unable to accommodate more refugees.
Taliban spokesman Jabihullah Mujahid has called on Afghans to stop crossing the border earlier in the week. He also warned the United States to immediately stop deporting Afghans.
