Uday Chandra Vashishta, who translated the Bhagavad-gita into Sanskrit into Nepali, has passed away. He died on February 12 at his residence in Turpin, Henok, East Sikkim, according to East Mojo.

Vashishta, who has been suffering from recurrent heart attacks since 2010, died at the age of 91. He also suffered from dementia. His funeral was attended by his two sons, Dr. Bharat Chandra Vashishta and forester Shekhar Chandra Vashishta did it on the banks of the Rorathang River in East Sikkim.

He has made great contribution in the field of Nepali literature. He was born on January 1, 1930. He was raised in grades 4 and 5 at the Scottish Mission School. He did not get any further education after finishing his school level. Later, he went to Varanasi to study further.

He was the principal of Namchi Secondary School from 1965 to 1967 and the principal of Penda Secondary School from 1968 to 1969.
