Kathmandu — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the 137 ballistic missiles and 209 drones launched by Iran.
According to a statement from the ministry, the UAE Air Force and air defense units demonstrated high readiness and the capability to counter multiple threats simultaneously. Out of the 137 missiles, 132 were intercepted while five fell into the sea. Similarly, 195 of the 209 drones were intercepted, with 14 crashing onto UAE land or waters, causing limited damage.
The ministry noted that debris from the interceptions caused minor damage to some civilian properties in various locations. Officials confirmed that rapid-response measures were immediately activated, ensuring the safety of affected areas and taking necessary steps to protect the public.
The UAE Defense Ministry condemned the attack in strong terms, labeling it a “serious provocation” and a “cowardly act.” The ministry emphasized that such actions endanger civilian safety and regional stability, and reaffirmed the UAE’s right to take necessary measures to defend its territory, citizens, and national interests.
