Voters Allowed to Use Six Types of Documents for Thursday’s House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu — The Election Commission of Nepal has clarified that voters can enter polling stations for Thursday’s House of Representatives election by presenting either their voter identity card or one of five alternative official documents.

According to Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC, voters who do not possess the original voter ID card may cast their ballot by presenting an original copy of one of the following documents: a Nepali citizenship certificate, a driver’s license, a passport, a national identity card, or a land ownership certificate.

GC informed the Rastriya Samachar Samiti that carrying any one of the six documents specified by the Commission is mandatory to be eligible to vote.

For the House of Representatives election taking place tomorrow, a total of 10,967 polling locations have been established across the country, comprising 23,112 polling centers. In addition, 143 temporary polling locations have been arranged.

The Commission stated that 18,903,689 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots at the designated polling centers nationwide.
