Protesters are now demanding an independent government in Afghanistan, not a puppet government of Pakistan. According to international media reports, the protesters were trying to reach the presidential palace, but Taliban fighters fired in the air to disperse them.

The protesters also chanted slogans against the Taliban, the National Resistance Front (NRF). There have been many demonstrations in Kabul in the last few days.

Some protested the removal of the national flag, while others staged demonstrations demanding their rights. On Monday, women staged a similar protest in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Afghanistan’s Balkh province. Although the protest was peaceful, Taliban members threatened to kill two journalists, the BBC reported.
