Islamabad. Research has shown that Pakistan is in the midst of a major water crisis and this is a complex challenge to the country’s stability.

According to a report by the International Forum for Rights and Security, the water crisis has led to large-scale protests that could further strain the ailing economy and lead to conflicts between provinces. Farmers in Sindh and Balochistan block major highways According to the report, the richest and most politically dominant province of Punjab has been accused of allocating the highest and improper amount of river water.

Disputes have arisen between the provinces from time to time over the distribution of water from the Indus River. Researchers attribute this to a lack of trust between the provinces. According to a study by Pakistani researchers, the lack of trust between Pakistan’s provinces is at the root of the controversy. Water disputes between Sindh and Punjab in particular and between Sindh and Balochistan have been the main cause.

Not only Sindh and Punjab, but also Sindh and Balochistan this time. Balochistan has warned Sindh that Karachi’s water supply from the Hub Dam will be cut off if Uttar Pradesh does not stop occupying part of the water province. Lack of water will increase tensions between these provinces and will be the main cause of internal unrest. Studies have shown that the phenomenon could be disastrous for Pakistan’s stability as extremist elements become stronger after the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan.
