One Nepali Killed in Iranian Missile Attack in UAE

Kathmandu — A Nepali national has died in a missile attack carried out by Iran in the United Arab Emirates, according to the UAE Ministry of Defence.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Ministry confirmed that three people were killed in the Iranian missile strike, including one Nepali citizen. The other two victims were identified as nationals of Bangladesh and Pakistan. However, the identities of the deceased have not yet been publicly disclosed.

The Ministry further stated that 58 others sustained minor injuries in the attack. Those injured include citizens from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, and Afghanistan.

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal said it learned about the death of the Nepali citizen through media reports and is seeking further details regarding the incident.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, Iran has so far launched 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drones toward the UAE. Of the ballistic missiles, 152 were intercepted and destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea. Both cruise missiles were also reportedly neutralized.

The Ministry added that 506 Iranian drones were shot down, while 35 drones fell in various parts of the country, causing damage.

Authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the locations targeted or the extent of property damage.
