Kathmandu — A बैठक of the National Security Council was held today at the Security Council Secretariat in Singha Durbar under the chairpersonship of Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

The meeting focused on the country’s current security situation, preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, and potential security challenges. According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the discussion primarily reviewed security arrangements for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Thursday.

Key issues addressed during the meeting included on-site security management at election venues, safety measures at polling centers, and the coordination required among relevant government bodies. Officials emphasized the importance of ensuring effective security deployment to guarantee a smooth voting process.

Among those present were Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal, Foreign Minister Balananda Sharma, Forest Minister Madhav Chaulagain, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Sigdel, and Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal.

During the discussion, ministers and senior security officials stressed the need to maintain peace, law and order, and the safety of the general public throughout the election period. The Secretariat informed that decisions were made to further strengthen coordination among security agencies to address any emerging risks.

Prime Minister Karki reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing sensitive national security matters and ensuring that the electoral process remains smooth, free, fair, and secure. She has consistently highlighted the importance of safeguarding national security and political stability in previous National Security Council meetings as well.
