A delegation led by NRNA President Dr. Badri KC presented the cheque during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

During the handover, Dr. KC expressed grief over the recent landslides, floods, and inundations and mentioned that in addition to the monetary contribution, the NRNA has been providing Rs 10 million worth of relief assistance to affected areas. He also noted challenges in utilizing the ‘NRNA citizenship’ for economic and social purposes.

Prime Minister Oli thanked the NRNA for their humanitarian support during the disaster. He emphasized that although “once a Nepali, always a Nepali,” political rights cannot be exercised in Nepal after acquiring foreign nationality, stressing the need for serious discussions on dual citizenship.

PM Oli, who has long advocated for NRN contributions to Nepal’s prosperity, urged that the NRNA focus on representing non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) and avoid political affiliations.

Additionally, Suresh Acharya, Chairman of the Vidyut Utpadan Company Limited (VUCL), handed over Rs 646,500 on behalf of the company and its employees.

The Nepal Insurance Company, India also contributed Rs 1 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund today.
