Kathmandu — The Advertising Board Nepal has urged media outlets to remove all promotional materials related to political parties and candidates contesting the upcoming House of Representatives election from midnight tonight.

Issuing a public notice on Tuesday, the Board requested online media platforms and social media users to take down all election-related advertisements except for voter education materials officially provided by the Election Commission of Nepal and the Advertising Board. The restriction will come into effect at 12:00 am.

The Board has also called on newspapers, radio stations, television channels, online news portals, and social media platforms not to publish or broadcast advertisements supporting political parties or candidates during the silence period.

It warned that any promotion carried out in violation of the Election Code of Conduct would invite legal action in accordance with prevailing laws.

In a notice issued by Chief Administrative Officer Devi Pandey, the Board stated that during the silence period, no one is allowed to post, share, comment on, or disseminate any message, information, or promotional material in favor of or against any political party or candidate through social media, online platforms, print, or any other medium.

The Board has urged all concerned stakeholders to strictly comply with the election regulations to ensure a fair and credible electoral process.
