Abu Dhabi – The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced on Monday that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched from Iran amid escalating regional tensions.

In a detailed statement, the ministry said that since the beginning of the attacks, a total of 174 ballistic missiles had been detected. Of these, 161 were intercepted and destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea. Additionally, out of 689 Iranian drones detected, 645 were intercepted and 44 fell within UAE territory.

The ministry further reported that eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, causing limited damage. Authorities confirmed that three people were killed and 68 others sustained minor injuries as a result of the attacks.

According to officials, loud explosions heard across various parts of the country were caused by the interception of ballistic missiles by air defense systems and by fighter jets targeting drones and cruise missiles. These defensive operations led to minor to moderate damage in some civilian areas.

The ministry strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as a “clear act of aggression” and a “serious violation of national sovereignty and international law.” The United Arab Emirates stated that it reserves the right to respond and will take all necessary measures to safeguard its territory, citizens, residents, and visitors.

Officials emphasized that the country remains on high alert and fully prepared to address any potential threats. The public has been urged to rely only on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumors or unverified reports.
