Rastriya Swatantra Party Dominates Early Results as Vote Counting Continues Across Nepal

Kathmandu — Vote counting for the House of Representatives election is continuing across Nepal, with preliminary results showing a strong lead for the Rastriya Swatantra Party. According to the Election Commission of Nepal, final results from 83 constituencies have been announced so far.

Based on the results released, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is leading with 67 seats, while the Nepali Congress has won 9 seats, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has secured 3 seats, and the Nepal Communist Party has won 2 seats. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has gained 1 seat, and one independent candidate has also been elected.

Major RSP Victories

Many RSP candidates have secured victories with large margins. In Rupandehi-3, Dr. Lekh Jung Thapa won with 58,814 votes, defeating Sushil Gurung of Nepali Congress by a margin of 50,379 votes.

In Rupandehi-2, Sulav Kharel won with 56,550 votes, defeating UML candidate Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who received 12,861 votes.

In Morang-6, RSP candidate Rubina Acharya secured victory with 55,513 votes, defeating Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala, who obtained 12,850 votes.

Similarly, in Morang-4, Santosh Rajbanshi won with 40,833 votes, defeating Gururaj Ghimire of Nepali Congress, who received 12,818 votes.

In Dhanusha-3, Manish Jha secured 43,988 votes, defeating Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi, who received 16,652 votes.

In Mahottari-1, Pramod Kumar Mahato won with 34,636 votes, defeating Giriraj Mani Pokharel of the Nepal Communist Party, who secured 12,624 votes.

RSP candidates also achieved significant victories in Bara and Parsa districts. In Bara-3, Arbind Sah won by a margin of more than 30,000 votes, while in Bara-4, Rahbar Ansari secured 41,200 votes, defeating UML candidate Krishna Kumar Shrestha, who received 11,639 votes.

In Parsa-1, Buddhi Prasad Pant won with 27,274 votes, defeating UML candidate Pradeep Yadav, who received 13,030 votes.

Strong Performance in Kathmandu Valley

RSP has also secured victories in most constituencies of Kathmandu. Winners include Ranju Neupane from Kathmandu-1, Sunil KC from Kathmandu-2, Rajunath Pandey from Kathmandu-3, Pukar Bam from Kathmandu-4, Sasmit Pokharel from Kathmandu-5, Ganesh Parajuli from Kathmandu-7, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha from Kathmandu-8, Dol Prasad Aryal from Kathmandu-9, and Pradeep Bista from Kathmandu-10.

In Bhaktapur, Rukesh Ranjit won in Bhaktapur-1, while Buddha Ratna Maharjan secured victory in Lalitpur-1.

Meanwhile, RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane won in Chitwan constituency-2 with 54,402 votes, defeating his rival by a margin of 39,838 votes.

Other Party Victories

From the Nepali Congress, winners include Santosh Subba (Tehrathum-1), Tek Bahadur Gurung (Manang-1), Yogesh Gauchan Thakali (Mustang-1), Basana Thapa (Dailekh-1), and Bharat Bahadur Khadka (Doti-1).

Other Congress winners include Bharat Kumar Swar (Achham-1), Bishnu Bahadur Khadka (Surkhet-1), Khadka Bahadur Budha (Jajarkot-1), and Abhishek Pratap Shah (Kapilvastu-3).

From UML, Mohammad Ishtiyaq Rai (Banke-2), Ain Bahadur Mahara (Bajhang-1), and Laxmi Prasad Pokharel (Dailekh-2) have been elected.

From the Nepal Communist Party, chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal won from Rukum East-1 with 10,240 votes, while Barshaman Pun was elected from Rolpa-1 with 27,460 votes.

From the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Gyanendra Shahi won in Jumla-1 with 14,816 votes, defeating Naresh Bhandari of the Nepal Communist Party by 3,181 votes.

Meanwhile, renowned social innovator Mahabir Pun won from Myagdi-1 as an independent candidate with 22,850 votes, defeating candidates from both UML and Nepali Congress by a wide margin.

The vote counting process is still ongoing, and the final composition of the House of Representatives will become clearer once results from all constituencies are officially declared.
