Janakpurdham, September 7
Haritalika Teej is being celebrated all over the country including Madhes. The green tea festival celebrated on the day of Bhadra Shukla Tritiya is being celebrated with reverence and devotion by worshiping Devadeva Mahadev. There is a religious belief that if one fasts on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya and worships Shiva Parvati, one can attain longevity, family happiness, peace and welfare.
It is believed that this fast started in the Satyayuga in the belief that Parvati, the daughter of the Himalayas, got the gift of getting a husband from Lord Mahadev by doing penance in Gaurighat.
As in other parts of the country, the region has been experiencing rapid growth in recent times.
The festival celebrated by the hill communities with loyalty and faith wishing for the longevity of the husband has now become a festival of loyalty for the Madhesi women as well.

Today in Janakpur, women from both the communities are celebrating Teej festival by mixing and dancing with each other.
Mamata Magar said that the women of both the communities were happy when the women of each other’s community came together and started celebrating Teej.
On the occasion of Teej, like every year, this year also Ganesh Youth Committee has organized a special Teej program in front of Ram Mandir.
Here, women from hilly and Madhesi communities are celebrating Teej festival by dancing and having fun.
