Kathmandu: Speaker Agni Sapkota has been criticized for obstructing the parliament saying that he had played a supportive role in the UML split. After the criticism of its MPs, the UML has called a meeting of the parliamentary parties to teach the parliamentarians the parliamentary dignity. A meeting of the parliamentary parties has been called for Sunday, said party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai.

He informed that the standing committee meeting held on Saturday decided to convene a meeting of the parliamentary parties. He said, ‘UML is protesting in Parliament over the role of the Speaker. A meeting of the parliamentary parties has been called to explain to the parliamentarians about the limits of the protest and maintaining the parliamentary dignity. He said that the UML belonged to a dignified parliamentary party and a meeting of the party was convened to discuss the issue.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives held on Friday, the UML MPs had tried to reach Rostam on the back of their fellow MPs. Some UML lawmakers even tried to slap the speaker. The behavior of UML lawmakers in the House of Representatives on Friday has been widely criticized.

Bhattarai said that Speaker Sapkota had not discussed the issue with the CPN-UML. He said that the speaker could not even maintain the confidence of the parliament and expressed confidence that an atmosphere would be created for the parliament to function after the discussion.

UML has also concluded that the government has provoked the environment by force. On Friday, the UML objected to the budget being brought in a guerrilla style.

Secretary Bhattarai said that the standing committee meeting had objected to the budget brought through the replacement bill. He said that the popular programs included in the budget brought by the Oli government have been cut but new programs have been added across Hachuwa.
