Siraha. Ram Pukar Kamati, Ward Chairman of Golbazar Municipality-9 of Siraha has tried to assault the journalist. On Tuesday, Ward Chairman Kamati tried to assault the journalist Ganesh Prasad Sah, who is also the Vice President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Siraha. At around 9 pm on Monday night, the locals had seized the timber from the JCB and handed it over to the police.
The locals had taken under control the JCB (Na 1 Ga 706) and the driver along with the sal wood while they were stealing the timber collected from the Jobha Natural Forest in Ward 9. The locals had handed over the JCB and the driver to the police after the driver told them to bring him. On Tuesday, Ward Chairman Kamati had reached the Mirchaiya Area Police Office to discuss the release of timber and JCB after reaching an agreement with the locals. Journalist Sah, who reached IPRA to get feedback on the same issue, including the ward chairman A group of 10-12 people got angry and tried to beat him up. Police handed over the timber and JCB Division Forest Office to Lahan on Wednesday morning. Ward Chairman Kamati and Mayor Devnath Sah were trying to end the issue by reaching an agreement with the locals. However, the locals could not reach an agreement as they were of the view that action should be taken against those involved.
Locals allege that Ward Chairman Kamati tried to steal the bullet from Sakhuwa in collaboration with the Forest Office and the municipality. The timber that was killed in the storm in the forest is worth about 10 million rupees, but now there is no timber worth 1 million rupees due to smuggling. According to locals, Ward Chairman Kamati has been directly and indirectly involved in the theft of timber so far. The locals could not reach an agreement as they were of the view that action should be taken against those involved. Locals allege that Ward Chairman Kamati tried to steal the bullet from Sakhuwa in collaboration with the Forest Office and the municipality. There is no timber worth one million rupees due to the smuggling of timber in the forest. According to locals, Ward Chairman Kamati has been directly and indirectly involved in the theft of timber so far.
