Kathmandu. It has been revealed that Gaushala Municipality of Mahottari spends more than Rs 45,000 per day on fuel.
The municipality has spent Rs 16.6 million in one year alone. In the 58th report made public by the Auditor General’s Office, it is mentioned that Gaushala Municipality has spent only Rs.
There are provisions in the policy guidelines on maintaining economy and efficiency in public expenditure, such as setting fuel for vehicle fuel in 2075 BS, bringing uniformity in maintenance expenditure, using government vehicles only for government work and not using government vehicles by unauthorized persons.
However, Gaushala Municipality Mayor Shivnath Mahato, Deputy Mayor Ashala and other people’s representatives and employees have bought fuel from the state treasury.
It is found that the people’s representative has spent Rs. 17 lakh 56 thousand 941 on fuel, Rs. 148 lakh 33 thousand 878 for office purposes and Rs. 71 thousand 385 for other purposes.
The report states that the municipality has not prepared the criteria of fuel expenditure but the annual fuel expenditure and usage details according to the vehicles have not been disclosed.
According to the report of the Accountant General, Rs. Out of which, the Office of the Auditor General has asked to collect Rs. 16 lakh 20 thousand.
