Kathmandu. After the government formed a study committee to ascertain the border issue with China, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli expressed his indignation. He directly asserted that there was no border issue with China.
The government has formed a study committee based on the past government report that China has encroached on 11 places in 4 districts and the statement of the people’s representative of Humla. However, Oli’s statement that China has not crossed the border was the reason why the Foreign Ministry issued a statement when he was the Prime Minister. Oli accused Prime Minister Deuba of forming a study committee to please anyone without naming India.
Oli is soft on China again. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important.
However, Oli seems hot on India. He has raised the issue of Indian helicopters flying in the far western region. There has been no formal confirmation from the government. Speaking in Pokhara on Tuesday, India accused the government of being a spectacle when it flew helicopters over Nepali territory.
Oli is also expressing strong views towards India in the case of Jaisingh Dhami who went missing after falling in Tuin. The government has already issued a diplomatic note on the Tuin incident. Based on the study report, it is said that SSB of India was also present in the Tuin case.
Even in the past, Oli had worked to increase his popularity by making strong statements towards India. It is being analyzed that he has adopted the same strategy now. However, he is pursuing a softer policy towards China. ReportsNepal
