Dailekh. The National Dalit Liberation Awakening Campaign has organized two large public meetings in Rajbiraj of Saptari in the east and Dailekh in the west to create awareness among the socially, economically, politically and culturally neglected, neglected and deprived Dalit community.
At a public meeting in Rajbiraj, Rajesh Vidrohi, the former coordinator of the campaign, said that the Dalit community needs to be serious about this issue as the political parties have been using it only as a vote bank. He said, “The Communist Party only uses the Dalit community during elections.”
Discussing that the government’s silence has forced the hard working dalits and the oppressed community to starve to death, he said, “There have been protests time and time again. He has not returned. ‘ The poor have become poorer and the feudal landlords have come to power.
The rebels said that the oppressed community was forced to go hungry even today as the feudal lands did not change their attitude towards the oppressed even after they came to power. He claimed that the Dalit community could not get rid of decades of oppression without awareness.
Stating that some Dalit leaders in politics have been deprived of proper opportunities and used as cadres, he said, “In every political change, the Dalit community has not only participated but also made sacrifices. There is no alternative to struggle. ‘
Similarly, at a program in Dailekh, former MP Parvati Bishunke
said that the government should make arrangements for redistribution of land belonging to the Dalit community for generations . He demanded the government to maintain the rights of water, forest, land and capital, and to expand the National Dalit Commission to the local level by making legal arrangements for separate dalits.
Similarly, Western Coordinator Khagendra Sonar said that the government of Nepal should work against the discriminatory working style of Dalits so far. He said, “The Dalit community is despised by the government.”
A large gathering of the Dalit community in Dailekh under the National Dalit Liberation Awakening Campaign has also made public a 14-point demand with the Government of Nepal at the national level. The demand letter states that special rights should be provided to the Dalits including compensation, higher education, technical education and health services should be provided free of cost, and immediate citizenship should be provided to the stateless Dalits.
For some time now, the Nepali Congress has been raising its voice for the welfare of the Dalit community.
