BEIJING: The Chinese ambassador has been barred from attending the British parliament. The United Kingdom has refused to allow seven Chinese parliamentarians to enter the country in March.
Last March, China banned seven members of Britain’s lower and upper house of parliament from entering the country. In retaliation, the UK barred the Chinese ambassador from attending an all-party meeting on China in parliament. The Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom was sent back from the program.
China has objected to such a decision. Chinese officials have objected to the British parliament’s decision to bar the Chinese ambassador from attending the event, saying it was a “narrow-minded and hypocritical act” by Britain.
