Kathmandu. The Rohingya refugee women and children who were brought to Kathmandu from Bangladesh by brokers on the pretext of going to the US via Nepal have come under the control of the Kapan-based police office in Kathmandu last Saturday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of the police has arrested three people for smuggling human beings from Myanmar to Nepal saying that they would take the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar to the United States.
The bureau arrested Sakif Alam and Ajmat Ullah of Kallu near Ram Mandir on Saturday and Norul Amin of Ram Mandir near Kapan on Monday. According to the investigation, 14 Rohingya refugees from two families have already entered Nepal.
According to the bureau, they were involved in bringing Rohingya refugees to Nepal saying that they could go to European countries including the United States from Nepal.
After their arrival in Nepal, the refugees were being lured to the United States by getting a monthly allowance of Rs 5,750 for men, Rs 3,750 for women and Rs 2,750 for children.
According to the bureau, they were taking around Rs 3.5 lakh per person while smuggling human beings from Dhaka in Bangladesh to Nepal via India.
