Kabul. Moeed Yusuf, Pakistan’s national security adviser, said the Ashraf Ghani-led government had to leave Afghanistan because the West had not listened to Pakistan. He said Western countries needed to work with the Taliban to form an inclusive government to protect Afghan citizens.
Stating that the West is now ashamed of not listening to Pakistan before, he said that now the West should form an inclusive government to form a Taliban-led government.
He also said that Islamabad, which has close and disputed relations with Afghanistan’s eastern neighbor, should not be given back to the Taliban government in a major diplomatic attack.
Pakistan has also said that countries in the West should continue to provide financial support to the Taliban government. He said that if the West repeated the mistakes of the 1990s, it would establish a security vacuum, which would lead to a resurgence of terrorism, first in Pakistan and then in the West.
Pakistan has been told that the fall of the Ghani administration has been justified and that many refugees on its border are facing problems. It says it will be deprived of a stable Afghanistan if it fails to gain international recognition.
Yousef called on the Taliban to work for the protection of the fundamental rights of Afghan citizens by recognizing an inclusive government.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan and claimed that Afghans were free from slavery. However, various other terrorist organizations are attacking the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
