Janakpurdham. The construction of the railway from Kurtha in Dhanusha to Bijalpura in Mahottari is 90 percent complete.
The main infrastructure work of the railway under construction with the help of Indian grant has been completed and only the work of ‘Railway Telecommunication’ remains.
While preparations are being made to run the railway from Jayanagar in India to Kurtha in Dhanusha, there is little construction left in the previous section.
The Indian side has been saying that the construction up to Bijalpura will be completed soon, said Deepak Kumar Bhattarai, Director General of the Railway Department.
According to him, even though he did not say that he could do it by this time, he has been saying that he can do it soon. Work was being done at the construction site before the rains but now the workers are not at the construction site.
“We are in talks with them and we will do it soon,” he said.
Director General Bhattarai said that there was no major land problem as the railway line to Kurtha was old. The old line was only extended in that place.
He said that there could be a problem of land as new ones have to be built from Bijalpura to Bardiwas. He informed that the infrastructure work has not started in this section.
According to him, the compensation could not be distributed for a long time due to land dispute.
Bhattarai said that a process has been completed as compensation has been fixed in Dhanusha and Mahottari.
There is still time for the concerned landlord to file a complaint in the process of compensation.
He said, “Once that is done, more work can be done.”
The Indian side had started new construction by removing all the existing infrastructure at the place where the railway used to be.
Formerly built in ‘narrow gauge’, now it has been extended to ‘broad gauge’.
Indians are doing both technical and economic aspects in the construction of this railway.
The railway will reach Bardibas from Jayanagar via Janakpur, Kurtha and Bijalpura. The East-West Railway, which is being constructed by the Government of Nepal itself, will also move forward through Bardibas.
Both these railways are planned to reach Bardibas.
In the first section, the construction up to Kurtha has been completed and the construction up to Bijulpura has been started.
The department has stated that the construction from Bijulpura to Bardibas will be started after the completion of this section.
If the construction of Kurtha-Bijulpura railway could not move forward due to land dispute for a long time, it is still unclear when it will be completed.
During President Vidyadevi Bhandari’s visit to India, it was agreed to build railways at five places connecting the border districts of the two countries.
Although it is said that the railway will be constructed in five places with the grant assistance of the Government of India, one is being constructed on this and the other is being constructed only on the railway from Bathnaha to Biratnagar.
Out of 18 km from Bathnaha to Biratnagar, 10 km has been constructed.
In the other three places, it has not started yet. During the Rana period, there was a railway service from Raxaul in India to Amalekhgunj in Nepal and from Jayanagar to Janakpur in 1994 BS.
A new technology railway has been built long after it was closed.
The government had purchased two sets of trains on September 20 last year to operate the Jayanagar-Kurtha train. Although the manpower, office and other preparations have been completed for the operation of the train, the service has not started yet.
The construction of the railway from Kurtha to Jayanagar was completed almost two years ago. The length from Jayanagar to Kurtha is currently 35 km. The railway line from Kurtha to Bijulpura is 17 km and an additional 17 km will be constructed from Bijulpura to Bardibas.
When all the sections are completed, the total length of the railway will be about 70 km. रासस
